We are in awe of the God who was, is, and is yet to come as He continues to long for His children to become what we can become through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, His one and only Son.
We have closed the door on 2009 and are looking forward with eager expectation to the blessings of 2010.
We have all felt the presence of God in everything that we encountered this past year. Both, that which we felt was good and that we felt was bad for us as individuals and as a church. It is that presence that the Holy Spirit reveals to the faithful that gives us hope and encouragement regardless of circumstances.
Our theme for 2010, “Building a Better Community,” includes both building the church family and adding those who are seeking the salvation that can only be found in Jesus Christ. To that end, we have revised our South Central mission statement from “Building a Better Community for the Coming Christ” to “Building a Better Community for the Coming Christ by Loving God, Each Other, and Serving the World Through Intentional Evangelism.”
The theme and mission statement must be incorporated into the fiber of our being as individuals and a church under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Each ministry, event, activity, and or program must ask the question, is the mission obvious in what is planned and implemented?
The Leadership has also endeavored to have a structured plan that expects and encourages each and every member to be aware of four basic components of South Central church of Christ:
Clarity-a process of discipleship that can be clearly communicated and understood by all members
· Why does the church exist?
· Who are we?
· What does God what us to do?
· How will we do it?
Movement-sequential steps in the process that help people reach greater areas of commitment
· Worship
· Bible Study
· Special Classes
Alignment-the arrangement of ministries and activities around the same simple process, the purpose of this ministry is to “Build a Better Community for the Coming Christ by Loving God, Each Other, and Serving the World Through Intentional Evangelism”
Focus-the commitment to abandon areas that fall outside the simple-ministry process while streamlining and realigning, ensuring that only the essential ministries/activities that fit the mission are implemented.
As we strive to grow into the head being Christ, we treasure your prayers on our behalf because we are the prime target of Satan who is seeking members to work through to carry out his scheme to destroy God’s people. We have taken a stand for Jesus and expect to be victorious because God in us is “greater than he that is in the world”.
