David Watkins III is an experienced minister and nonprofit leader who has dedicated over 15 years to serving communities and leading congregational efforts. Born and raised with a deep sense of faith, he answered his calling early, earning a degree in Religious Studies from Southwestern Christian College. His passion for ministry led him to work across various settings, where his commitment to nurturing compassion and effecting meaningful change became the cornerstone of his career. David began his ministry at the North Peoria Church of Christ in 2009, where he supported the senior minister, managed church ministries, and implemented successful evangelism strategies. During his tenure, he helped oversee a $1.6 million federal grant and contributed to a real estate development project. His leadership and ability to inspire others played a key role in fostering community engagement and driving spiritual growth.
From 2014 to 2022, David served as the Senior Minister at Twin City Church. There, he developed and executed the church’s vision, resulting in nearly 200 baptisms within six years. He also trained and appointed elders and deacons, all while guiding the congregation to understand and embrace its mission to develop disciples and engage in worship and ministry.
Beyond his ministerial work, David has contributed significantly to the nonprofit sector, working to address the opioid epidemic, support individuals living with HIV/AIDS, and advocate for affordable housing for low-income families. His role as a Transition Specialist at Centene Corporation demonstrates his ability to facilitate healthcare transitions and promote self-sufficiency among patients, showcasing his expertise in both ministry and nonprofit administration. David’s impact would not be possible without the support of his wife Shawna and their two sons. Together, they share a commitment to making the world a better place through faith and service. For David, ministry extends beyond the walls of the church—it’s about living a life dedicated to serving others.
